Governor's Draft 2010 - We Choose Jack Hawkins!
This website is for those who would like to see Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor of Troy University, run for Governor of the State of Alabama in 2010.
In a syndicated newspaper article, Dr. Hawkins is said to be considering a gubernatorial run. He says he has been approached by people who like what Gov. Bob Riley has done and would like to see someone who is not a professional politician run.
Dr. Hawkins identifies himself as a Republican, but says he is frustrated with the partisan battles in Montgomery. "It hasn't been healthy in Alabama. Somehow we are going to have to find a way to work together."
"As for the gubernatorial race, Hawkins said he has discussed the matter with his wife Janice, and their grown daughters, Katie and Kelley. For now, he's following their advice. 'If there is sufficient interest out there, you'll know it.' "
We are preliminary group to gather support for Alabamians to say "I would consider supporting him." Should Dr. Hawkins decide to run we will move on from there.
